Through the course of your life you use what can be broken down to seven distinct volumes, as someone with a history in music it's easiest for me to categorize this in music terms, Pianissimo, Piano, Mezzo-Piano, Mezzo-Forte, Forte, Fortissimo, and FUCKIN OW!

Pianissimo would be a very low whisper, quiet enough that only someone very close to you can hear, uses would be in a library, church, or during a movie if you are such a person that talks but isn't quite rude enough to talk loudly enough for other patrons to hear.
Piano is a normal whisper, one that could be heard within a small group, with uses such as in a classroom, or some light gossip with coworkers about your manager and their third ex-wife taking their boat funds in the divorce and using it to buy their new, young lover his first suit.
Mezzo-Piano is the quiet end of your normal speaking voice, what could colloquially be known as your inside voice, something that would be used talking about that same manager when he's left the office about how his arms-race of younger lovers between him and his ex is starting to get out of hand, and the fact that she's technically eighteen doesn't excuse the fact that he left work to pick her up from her high school.
Mezzo-Forte is the louder end of a normal speaking voice, sometimes called your outdoor voice, a volume used in larger gathering while trying to talk to your close friends about how your ex-boss has kidnapped his ex's newest boy toy and how you hope the police can properly deescalate the situation before he hurts the kid or, more likely, himself.
Forte is a projection of your voice, perhaps it could be called a presentation voice, one that would be used in a press interview talking about how you never really trusted the character of your former boss, but you never wanted to see him lose both of his legs, from the knee down, in a freak kidnapping incident and that you're just glad the freshly-turned eighteen year old is back with his loved ones and away from that toxic situation involving the ex-lovers.
Fortissimo is a forceful projection of your voice, something of a loud shout, a common use would be gathering up all your closest friends and coworkers and surrounding your ex-bosses "Lover's Nest" he and his ex set up in the middle of town as a form of protest to the sentence the two of them received for the entire affairs dealing with their break-up and quarrel, to shout taunting remarks regarding the entire event.
However, today we celebrate the most holy of these dynamics, FUCKIN OW, a volume that only exists within the deepest core of yourself that rises up in moments of the greatest joy or deepest of despairs, a volume that leaves you voiceless for at least a full calendar day as you recover celebrating the arrest of the man who tormented your work-life with the most inane, bullshit, busy work that he would never be pleased with the quality of, thus making you repeat it ad nauseum until your final days employed together. GO FORTH AND SHOUT IN CELEBRATION OF TODAY, MANDOG MONTH DAY 5, SCREAMING ALOUD!
